Easy
Hikes:
Sacred
Canyon - This outing is way off the beaten track. After
traveling on four wheel drive roads we arrive to the trailhead
and take an easy 40 minute walk to the entrance of Sacred
Canyon. At the base of the giant Double-Head Serpent rock
formation we take some time soaking it all in. An easy walk
with awesome views takes us back.
Trail Rating: Easy (1 to 1 ½ hours walking round-trip)
Distance: 1.25 miles round-trip
Time: 3 hours
Cost: $75 per person
Carousel
- (Vortex, Views) Our tour starts with exceptional red rock
views as we go four-wheeling up historic Schnebly Hill Road.
Then we take an easy walk down Munds Wagon Trail to the majestic
Carousel Rock formation. After exploring this famous formation
and basking in the views from high atop Sedona, it's a moderate
hike back up the trail.
Trail Rating: Easy/Moderate
Distance: 1.25 miles round-trip
Time: 3 hours
Cost: $75 per person
Oak
Creek - Casner Canyon - A short drive through scenic Oak
Creek Canyon takes us to the trailhead where we take an easy
walk down to the creek. This area of rushing water, large
trees, and majestic Red Rocks should not be missed but is
seldom seen except by locals. Next, we cross the creek and
explore the wooded and uniquely shaped rock formations of
Casner canyon. An easy to moderate walk takes us back. Note**
This outing requires crossing the Oak Creek at a shallow spot.
Most times of year we can walk a log bridge over, but other
times it's necessary to enter the creek. In the warm seasons
this will be more than welcome!
Trail Rating: Easy but Rocky in some spots, plus creek crossing.
Distance: 1.5 miles roundtrip
Time: 3 hours
Cost: $75 per person
Moderate
Hikes:
Red
Rock High - (Vortex, Views) Our tour starts with exceptional
red rock views as we go four-wheeling up historic Schnebly
Hill Road. Then we kick it up a notch by exiting our vehicle
and hiking up to the top of the Mogollon Rim. The views from
here are spectacular, and the peace and tranquility of leaving
the crowds (and the Jeeps) behind is unparalleled. The trail
going up is moderate but sustained, coming back down is easy
yet rocky in some places. Don't miss this one!
Trail Rating: Moderate/Sustained
Distance: 2.5 miles round-trip
Time: 4 hours
Cost: $90 per person
Council
of Elders - Cockscomb (Vortex, Views) An easy drive with
great views takes us to the trailhead. For about 45 minutes
it's a gentle walk through the desert chaparral, then the
Council of Elders rock formation looms in front of us. This
spectacular formation demands a short but steep climb of about
a half an hour to reach the top. But it's well worth the effort
as an unbelievable view of all the West Sedona landmarks are
visible 360 degrees around us. Not many people ever see this
view or experience the unique energy of this most special
place. Awesome!
Trail Rating: Uniquely easy then Steep
Distance: 2.6 miles round-trip
Time: 4.5 hours
Cost: $95 per person
